Pug106 Engine Tuning (Throttle Body Converions)
Most standard fuel injection car engines use a single throttle body, or single carburetor on the older non-injected cars, in which fuel and air are mixed and then fed into the engine for combustion. The idea behind performance carburetors , or throttle body conversion is to feed the engine more efficiently and get more power right through the revs. Changing to high performance quad throttle bodies can be an expensive modification, but it will enable you to optimise the fueling and ignition timing to make the most from your car and the other modifications you have carried out. The system works by using four enlarged throttle bodies, as opposed to the single smaller standard throttle body, allowing more air and fuel intake and the precise setting up of the fuel mixture which in turn will give the engine the optimum performance right through the revs. It will also make the engine sound like an absolute beast as it's very loud but not in a fake way such as a Nova with a 4" backbox but more like a race car. Expect instant response to the accelerator, and a good strong and smooth power delivery. A specialist will be required for fitting and setup as a lengthy rolling road session will be required to get the timing and setup correct for your engines specification. Click here to go back |
